Buy used, safely

A 6-step checklist that Barganify uses to evaluate every used-phone listing on Mercado Livre and OLX. Use it before you pay.

1. 01

   Healthy battery

   Ask for a screenshot of the “Battery Health” screen (iPhone) or “Battery & Usage” (Android). We recommend 85% or higher for daily use. Below 80%, consider deducting the price of a new battery.

2. 02

   Box, cable and invoice

   The ideal listing comes with the original box, cable and invoice. The box is worth about 10% of the resale price. Without an invoice, you can't get official warranty coverage.

3. 03

   Declared warranty

   Serious sellers offer 3–6 months of warranty. If the seller refuses even a minimum warranty, that's a red flag. Store-refurbished devices usually have 12 months.

4. 04

   Seller reputation

   On Mercado Livre, favor sellers rated “Mercado Líder Platinum” or “Gold”. Barganify highlights them with a gold badge on the card. On OLX, prefer “Verified Seller” and read the comments.

5. 05

   Clean IMEI (phones)

   Ask for the IMEI before paying and check it for free at https://consultaimei.com.br to confirm the device is not blocked for theft or loss.

6. 06

   Beware of prices that look too low

   If an iPhone 13 Pro is 40% below the market's lowest price, it's most likely a scam. Barganify considers the median price of the last 30 searches.
